Leonide "Nide" Jeffrey, 93, of Groves, Texas passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Magnolia Manor. Nide was born April 19, 1918 in St. Martinville, Louisiana to Edmund Fournet and Elodie Delahoussaye Fournet. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and was a resident of Groves since 1945 years. She was a homemaker and member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Marland Jeffrey; sisters, Blanche Fournet Mendoza, Inez Fournet, Olympe Fournet, and Lizzie Fournet; brothers, James M. Fournet, Lynn Fournet, and Wade M. Fournet; and granddaughter, Leah Marie Jeffrey. Survivors include her sons, David L. Jeffrey and Marty K. Jeffrey both of Groves; daughter, Lynne James and husband, Gary of Orange; sister, Mattie Fournet Gautreaux of Colfax, LA; six grandchildren, Michelle Jeffrey of Lumberton, Denise Suggitt of Texarkana, Frank Davis of Port Neches, John Jeffrey of Port Neches, Alycia Newsome of Lake Charles, and Covy Jeffrey of Groves; thirteen great-grandchildren, Jody Viator, Nathan Elizondo, Drake Lafleur, Aly Suggitt, D.J. Suggitt, Landon Davis, Chloe Davis, Saxon Davis, Leah Jeffrey, Blake Jeffrey, Travis Newsome, Caleb Newsome, and one step-great-grandson Ian Putman; and one great-great grandchild, Kaden Viator. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Monsignor Kenneth Greig officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. with a Rosary Service conducted at 6:00p.m. at the funeral home.
