Leslie Merkel McBeth, 93, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home. Mac was born January 19, 1917 in Merkel, Texas to Grover Leslie McBeth and Edna Holliday McBeth. He was a resident of Port Arthur for 55 years and member of Park Central Church of Christ.He was a World War II veteran in the Pacific Front. He retired as Lt. Commander of the U.S. Navy and also as U.S. Customs District Director. He loved to travel and catch military planes to Hawaii, Fiji Islands, Alaska , and other destinations. Survivors include his daughters, Peggy Temple and husband, Sidney of Port Neches, and Bonnie Hobbins and husband, Weldon of Baytown;sister-in-law, Margaret Florence McBeth of South Carolina; nephew, Paul McBeth of Florida; niece, Sharon McBeth Sink of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Shannon Haddox and husband, Jason, Jennifer Hylemon and husband, Paul, Melody Temple, Holli Temple Jones and husband, Eddie; three great-grandchildren, Sean Parker Higgins, Natalie Jones and Zachary Jones. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Mr. Perry Phillips, minister of Central Church of Christ in Monroeville, Alabama officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
