Lester Fulfer

August 3, 1950 — May 2, 2023

Lester Fulfer, 72, of Pinehurst, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Lester was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 3, 1950 but more importantly, he was born again on August 3, 1975 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

Lester was raised in the Port Arthur and Sabine Pass area before moving to Vinton, Louisiana where he spent 45 years of his life. He moved to Pinehurst in August 2022 to be close to his family. Lester was a man with a charismatic personality and a tremendous work ethic. He started working at the early age of fifteen years old while still attending school. Lester worked for Gillespie’s Engine Service from 1971 to 1973 before working for Barge Transport for twenty-four years. After Barge Transport, Lester worked his final job with Martin Gas where he retired after twenty years of service. Upon retirement, Lester was honored with a commission vessel named the “Lester Fulfer.” He was also the owner and operator of his own business, Coins Unlimited, for five years. Aside from his tremendous work ethic, Lester was always involved with the church and the community in which he lived. He was a member of Pinehurst United Pentecostal Church. Lester served in outreach programs and children’s ministry for over 45 years. He was a member of the Propeller Club of SW Louisiana and served on the West Cal-Cam Community Center Authority Board as both Board Chairman and Board President. Lester was a very accomplished man that led by example, but was also loving and kind hearted. He supported his wife and family every step of the way in life. Lester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Those left behind to cherish Lester’s memory are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Lynette Fulfer of Pinehurst, Texas; his son, Shawn Fulfer and his wife, Crystal of Lubbock, Texas; his daughters, Shelley Sonier and her husband, James of Bridge City, Texas and Sheree Fulfer of Hillister, Texas; his ten grandchildren; his fourteen great grandchildren; his brother, Teddy Fulfer and his wife Ligaya who are Missionaries from Subic Bay Philippines; his sister, Jeanne Young and her husband, Byron of Nederland, Texas; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Lester is preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Kelley; his sister, Nita Green; and his grandparents, Albert and Margaret Cushion.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the homegoing of Lester Fulfer will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pinehurst United Pentecostal Church. A funeral service will be held at the church of Friday, May 5, 2023 and will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches and will begin at 1:00 p.m.
