Lillian Ruth Wassenich

      Lillian Ruth Wassenich, a dedicated homemaker, passed away on December 8, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was born on January 4, 1929, in Brookeland, Texas. Lillian's passing has touched the hearts of her family and friends, but they find solace in knowing that she is now at peace.

Throughout her life, Lillian showed immense dedication to her role as a homemaker. Her nurturing spirit and selfless nature made her a pillar of strength for her loved ones. Lillian thrived in creating a warm and loving environment for her family to call home.

Lillian was blessed with a loving family who adored her dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Felps and her husband Lon of Lumberton, Texas; son, Jodie Wassenich and his wife Dannette of Jasper, Texas; granddaughter, Amy McCandless and her husband Josh; grandson, Tommy Felps; grandson, Blake Hill and his wife Laura; as well as great-grandchildren, Ava McCandless and Caroline McCandless.

      Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Hutto) Powell and Jodie Powell; her loving husband of 64 years, Johnnie L. Wassenich; sisters, Pat Powell and Emma Boyd; and brother, Paul Powell.

Lillian's devotion to her family was immeasurable. She found joy in spending quality time with her loved ones and creating lasting memories together. Whether it was celebrating milestones or simply sharing laughter over a family dinner, Lillian cherished every moment spent with those she held dear.

Outside of being an incredible homemaker, Lillian was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Beauxart Gardens. Her faith was an important aspect of her life that provided strength and guidance during challenging times. Lillian found comfort and solace in her community of fellow believers.

In her free time, Lillian enjoyed tending to her yard, pot plants, and flower beds. The beauty she cultivated in her garden was a reflection of the love she poured into everything she did. Additionally, in her younger years, Lillian had a passion for baking cakes, pies, and cookies. Her sweet treats brought joy to the lives of those fortunate enough to taste them.

Lillian's kind heart and gentle nature will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her. Her warm smile would light up a room, and her compassionate spirit touched the lives of many. Lillian leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, selflessness, and unwavering faith.

Visitation services for Lillian Ruth Wassenich will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland. The funeral service will serve as a time of reflection and celebration of Lillian's remarkable life. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.

Lillian was a treasure to see when I would come to Collier Park to take care of my mother, Barbara Gibson. Lillian was always smiling and laughing. She is very much missed.
