Linda Daugherty, a beacon of strength, compassion, and independence, passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas on August 3, 2024, at the age of 76 with family by her side.
Linda grew up in Silsbee, Texas, with her four siblings. Her family later moved to Colorado, where she met the love of her life, Gary Gene Daugherty, and started a family of her own. They returned to her hometown of Silsbee, Texas, where she was inspired to work in the healthcare industry as a nurse.
She dedicated her life to the care of others, attending Lamar University for nursing and serving as a devoted nurse for over 30 years. Her career spanned several esteemed institutions, including MASH, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Kountze Living Center, where her commitment to patient care was evident in every interaction.
In addition to her nursing career, Linda also worked as a marketing liaison with Odyssey, Kindred Healthcare, and Gentiva, showcasing her versatility and dedication to healthcare in various capacities.
Linda was beloved by all who knew her for her warm and compassionate nature. She had a deep love for cooking and baking, often sharing homemade jams and jellies with family and friends. Her kitchen was a hub of warmth and joy, where she created wonderful memories with her delicious recipes from countless recipe books, and her own inspiration.
A lifelong advocate for continued education, Linda earned a real estate degree in 1983, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to learning and personal growth. Her thirst for knowledge and self-improvement was an inspiration to all.
She was a dedicated grandmother, always attending functions and events for her grandchildren, bringing joy and support to their lives. Linda also had a passion for gardening, old movies, and antiques, which brought much peace and happiness to her life. Her fashion sense was impeccable, and she was known for her incredible style and grace.
Linda is survived by her sons: Christopher Allen Daugherty (Rodgel Daugherty). Casey Dwayne Daugherty (Rachel Guerrero), daughter, Wendy Janel Riffe (Keith Riffe). Grandchildren: Kit Riffe, Victoria Ickes, Hayden Gore, Tricia Cravy, Jennifer Whitmire, Katelyn Daugherty, Alek Guerrero, 10 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Siblings: Marjorie Sue Crow, and Shirley Louise Whitney, and many loving nephews and nieces who will forever cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication.
Preceded in death by her parents; Frenchie Gore and Verna Louise Gore, her husband, Gary Gene Daugherty, and her brothers; Frenchie Leroy Gore and Paul David Gore.
A celebration of Linda Daugherty's life will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches, Texas. The Christus Nursing Honor Guard will be releasing LInda from her duties. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christus Southeast Texas Foundation - Nursing Honor Guard at SoutheastTexasfoundation.org and the American Lung Association at Action.lung.org, in honor of her dedication to nursing and education.
Rest in peace, Linda Daugherty. Your legacy of compassion, learning, and love will live on in our hearts forever.
