A Life Remembered

Obituary

Linda Huebel, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Port Arthur, Texas. Born on September 27, 1936, in Seymour, Texas, Linda’s life was a testament to devotion, kindness, and an enduring warmth that touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Linda dedicated much of her life to the service of education as a librarian for Port Arthur Independent School District, where she inspired generations of students with her love of learning and literature. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres, where her faith and fellowship enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Known for her gentle spirit and exceptional culinary talents, Linda will be fondly remembered for her chocolate chip cookies, German chocolate cake, and pineapple coconut cream pie—treats that brought joy to family gatherings and community events alike. Her kitchen was a sanctuary of warmth and love. In addition to her culinary skills, Linda cherished many hobbies that showcased her creativity and nurturing nature. She enjoyed canning, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and was an avid gardener who loved growing African Violets. Her adventurous spirit as a world traveler demonstrated her zest for life and her desire to experience the beauty of the world beyond her hometown.

Those closest to Linda described her as a great wife and mother, a role she embraced with unwavering devotion. She is survived by her loving spouse, William Huebel Sr., who shared a lifetime of love and partnership with her. Their family continues to be a source of pride and joy, including their daughter, Virginia Sistrunk; sons, Robert Huebel, Victor Huebel (Marjorie), and William "Billy" Huebel Jr. (Nindha). Linda’s legacy is warmly carried on by her grandchildren, Tia Osgood (Adam), Candace Huebel, Samantha Gorham (Kevin), Chris Flowers (Jennifer), Piper Huebel, and Victoria, as well as her great-grandchildren, Aiden and Noah Hewitt, Grace Payne, and Emmerson Rodriguez. She is also survived by her dear sister, Rosie Graeber.

While Linda’s life was filled with love and vitality, it was also marked by the poignant loss of those who preceded her in death: her parents, her grandson Johnathon Huebel, siblings Sylvia Ferguson, David Moore, and Margaret Moore, and son-in-law Kenneth Sistrunk.

Linda Huebel’s life leaves behind a rich tapestry of memory, love, and example—a true pillar of strength, warmth, and grace. Her generous spirit and loving heart will forever remain treasured in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
