Linda Frances Myers

1948 ∼ 2021

On Sunday, December 26, 2021, Linda Frances Picou Myers, 73, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully after spending her final days surrounded by friends and family.

Linda was born on July 30, 1948 in Port Arthur, TX to JD “Donald” and Lucy Hubbard Picou, Sr. She graduated in the Top 10 of the 1966 Class from Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Acres, TX. In 1968, she received her secretarial certification from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, went to work for Pure Oil Refinery in Port Neches, TX, and married the love of her life, James L. “Jimmy” Myers, Jr. at Ste. Therese, the Little Flower, Catholic Church in Port Acres, TX. They went on to raise two children, Shannon and Josh.

Over the years, Linda ran a successful cake business and worked as a secretary for Port Arthur ISD. She also volunteered much of her time to her children’s schools, holding numerous positions with PTA and various booster clubs, in addition to being instrumental in helping coordinate the first Project Graduation for the SFA Class of 1994. In her spare time, Linda enjoyed gardening, traveling, sewing, all things crafty, was a member of KC-Ettes, and never met a casino she didn’t like. Linda loved attending every activity that her grandchildren were involved in. As a testament to Linda’s dedication to everything she did, she was awarded Secretary of the Year from PAISD and she and Jimmy were awarded “Family of the Year” by Knights of Columbus Council 3195.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Donald, and her in-laws, James L. and Sadie Myers, Sr. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jimmy; her children, Shannon Myers Frederick and her husband Boogie of New Braunfels, TX, Josh Myers and his wife Crystal of Orangefield, TX; her grandchildren, Sloane Frederick of Orangefield, TX, Sydney Frederick of New Braunfels, TX, Colton and Adam Myers of Orangefield, TX; her mother, Lucy Hubbard Picou of Fannett, TX; her siblings, JD “Boco” Picou, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Port Acres, TX, Monty Picou Eshbach and her husband Edgar of Broaddus, TX, and Clint Picou and his wife Donna of Fannett, TX; her sister-in-law, Linda Myers Stone of Houston, TX; her brother-in-law, Gary Myers and his wife Marilyn of Port Neches, TX; numerous nephews and nieces, a large extended family, and many loving friends.

There will be a celebration of Linda’s life on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Ste. Therese, the Little Flower, Catholic Church in Port Acres, TX with a visitation from 10am to 11am and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches, TX.

The family would like to thank all of the medical personnel who cared for Linda over the last few years as she valiantly fought her battle with cancer: the staff at Dr. Schachner’s office in Beaumont, TX; the infusion team at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont, TX; all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff at MD Anderson in Houston, TX; and Amedisys Home Health Care in Beaumont, TX.

Way back in the early 80's when we were new to the neighborhood Linda always went out of her way to make sure I was included in things going on at school. Many fond memories of making ornaments for the kids at Christmas and working on SFA's first Project Graduation. Most fun I have ever had making burritos! And then there were many Unocal functions... I never knew her be anything but kind, reaching out to include everyone. She was a joy to be around! Prayers for Jimmy, Shannon, Josh, the Picou family and all those who love this special woman.

I worked with Jimmy a number of years at Unocal and came to meet Linda at a company Christmas party at the facility. Everyone brought food to share. As everyone knows Linda’s desserts were always awesome. One of the items she brought were those Rolo, pecan pretzel candies which everyone loved. That was well over 20 years ago. My family has made them every year since then and it has become a tradition of ours…..and every year I would think of her as we made and enjoyed them. Now I will even more. My wife Jen and I offer our prayers and deepest sympathy to Jimmy, Josh, Shannon and the whole family. We are thinking of y’all during this difficult time. I always called Linda, Saint Linda when we spoke, for her having to put up with Jimmy all these years. A beautiful and Saintly woman who was always a joy to talk to. May she now rest after her long and brave fight. God Bless her and her loved ones.

Jimmy, I’m so sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. I met her once at your house and she was making a wedding cake. She was so nice and polite. You would always tell me about her casino trips. She hit the jackpot when she met her Heavenly Father. May your family be blessed during this difficult time. If you need anything please let me know. As you would say and I’m saying now love ya partner.

Linda will be remembered as a warmhearted loving woman, blessed with inner and outer beauty. People were drawn to her fun loving sense of humor and infectious smile. Her strength and endurance exemplified her faith and love for God. Linda fully accepted God's graces of tranquility of mind, heart and order that paved her way to fly. She left this world in selfless love for Jimmy, family and friends. I will continue to be blessed with memories of her.
