Lionel Gene Hinson, 71, of Groves, Texas passed Friday, September 7, 2018 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Lionel was born October 11, 1946 in Port Arthur, Texas to Cecil Hinson and Verlea Bailey Hinson. He was a lifelong area resident and member of First Baptist Church of Groves. Lionel retired from Huntsman as an equipment operator after 35 years of service. Survivors include his two sons, Lionel Gene Hinson II and wife Belinda of Fannett, and Christopher Trey Hinson and wife Araceli of Sugar Land; sister, Weida Philpott and husband Eddie of Fannett; grandchildren, Opal Hinson, Charish Hinson, and Dalton Hinson; great-grandchildren, Zane and Asher. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 12 noon with Reverend Charles Miller officiating.
