Lionel Ray Parent

Lionel Ray Parent, 78, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at his residence in Nederland. Lionel was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 13, 1943 to the late, Robert Parent and Mona Marie Boudreaux Parent.

Lionel served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland. He worked as a machinist for Chevron / Phillips Refinery and retired with 35 years of service. Lionel loved to hunt, fish and tinker with all kinds of projects in his garage.

Those left to cherish Lionel’s memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Virginia Parent of Nederland; sons, Billy Parent of Nederland and Brian Parent and his wife, Monica of Beaumont, Texas; sisters, Patsy Sedtal of Nederland and his twin sister Linda Robinson of Beaumont; brothers, Robert Parent and his wife, Linda of Nederland and John Parent of Nederland; granddaughters, Brianna Parent and Cheyanne Parent.

Lionel is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Parent and Mona Marie Boudreaux Parent; and his brother, Donald Parent.

The family would like to recognize and say a special thank you to Annette Courville, Casey Broussard, Jaimie Men, Ortencia Men, Wessie Allen, Monica Barron and Trish Logan for the loving care they provided in Lionel’s time of need.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Thursday evening, March 3, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will also be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas with full Military Honors in appreciation of Lionel’s service to his country.
