Lois Hairston Schwarz

1939 ∼ 2026

Lois Hairston Schwarz, born on November 21, 1939, in Beaumont, Texas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Groves, Texas. Lois' fun-loving, spirit and big heart made her unforgettable to everyone who knew her.

Lois spent many years working as a Clerk for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, where she built lasting friendships and took pride in her work. She was dependable, kind, and someone others could always count on, both on the job and in everyday life. Lois was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She attended Catholic school from grade school through high school at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Beaumont and remained deeply rooted in her faith as an active parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland.

Family was the center of her life. She cherished every moment spent cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many extracurricular activities. Whether it be football, softball, taekwondo, and basketball, she was cheering them on. She also enjoyed taking them on weekend adventures. Lois loved her friends, many of whom became like family. She was fun, truly the life of the party, and could often be found enjoying her favorite margaritas or a glass of wine surrounded by the people she loved. She was full of sass and personality, never afraid to speak her mind and always ready with a laugh.

Lois loved life and loved staying busy. She enjoyed gardening, hunting, and creating beautiful stained glass pieces. She also loved to travel and took every chance she could to get out and see new places.

She is survived by her son, Mark Hairston, and his wife, Rose, of Nederland; her daughter, Donna Litchfield, and her husband, Kris, also of Nederland; and her grandchildren, Randy Hairston and his wife, Jennifer of Buna, Kassidy Litchfield of Nederland, Kara McDowell and her husband, Tod of Bridge City, and Kody Litchfield of Nederland. She also leaves behind beloved great-grandchildren Brennah Hairston, Brody Hairston, Kaylin Hansen, Bayler Litchfield, and Stetson McDowell, as well as a great-great-grandson, Colt Smith.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Dominque, Sr. and Irma Domingue; her former husband, Don Hairston; her husband, Albert Schwarz; and her brother, Wallace A. Dominque, Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, with the Memorial Service to begin at 6:00pm, at the Melancon~Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627.

Lois Hairston Schwarz leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Though she will be deeply missed, the joy she brought to others and the stories she helped create will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
