Lora E. Hill

Lora E. Hill, a beloved member of the Nederland community, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 68. Born on May 10, 1956, in Port Arthur, Texas, she devoted her life to her family and her work, leaving behind a legacy marked by kindness, generosity, and a remarkable sense of humor.

Lora spent a commendable 25 years at 25 Dollar Optical, where her dedication to helping others, particularly in fitting them with glasses, made her a well-known figure in the community. Her warm smile and compassion left a lasting impression on many who walked through the doors of the establishment.

A proud member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nederland, Lora's faith was an integral part of her life. She served her church and community with unwavering commitment, always putting others before herself. Lora was known for her ability to lighten any room with her joyful laughter and nurturing spirit.

In her personal life, Lora cherished the simple pleasures. She found joy in the comforting ritual of a good cup of coffee and delighted in exploring different cuisines. Known for her love of sewing, crocheting, and playing video games on her phone, she brought creativity and vibrancy to every endeavor. Lora especially loved entertaining children, often regaling them with stories and laughter, enriching their lives with her playful spirit.

Lora is survived by her dearly cherished son, Eric Hill, and her loving daughter, Lena Bernard. She was a proud grandmother to Abbie Hill, Logan Hill, Ivy Bernard, and Gabe Hill. The bonds she created with her grandchildren filled her heart with immeasurable joy. Also mourning her loss are numerous siblings, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.

Lora was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Charlie and Barbara Sanders, and her beloved husband, Harold Hill. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on April 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 11:00 AM at the same location, where Lora's life and legacy will be celebrated. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas
