Louis Calvin Campbell

1940 ∼ 2025

Louis Calvin Campbell, 84, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 18, 1940, in Abbeville, Louisiana, Louis is remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, a hardworking professional, and an individual with a deep passion for God and life.

Louis enjoyed a fulfilling career, having retired as the service manager from Firestone Tire and Rubber after 27 years of dedicated service. His commitment to hard work extended beyond his profession; he was known as a great carpenter and a master gardener, often sharing his beautiful creations with friends and family. Louis also had a talent for cooking, which brought many loved ones together around the dinner table. His knack for preparing delicious meals was well appreciated by those who had the pleasure of tasting his culinary skills.

A proud alumnus of Nederland High School, from which he graduated in 1960, Louis also bravely served in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped him and instilled in him values of dedication and patriotism. He was actively involved in his community, being a cherished member of Wesley Methodist Church in Nederland, where he took part in the Wesley Methodist Men's Group, fostering bonds of fellowship and support among his peers.

Outside of his professional and community accomplishments, Louis had many hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman who found peace and excitement afloat. Bowling brought him camaraderie through various leagues, while hunting provided moments in nature he cherished. Louis also enjoyed dancing and listening to Cajun music, memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who shared these experiences with him. He enjoyed traveling on bus trips with family and friends to Branson.

Louis' greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Christine Campbell, who stood by him through every chapter of their lives. His legacy continues through his daughters, Lucine King and her husband Jim of Spring, TX, and Delena Frederick and her husband Todd of Nederland, TX. Louis was especially proud of his grandchildren, Cierra Frederick and her husband, Michael Weber, Trenton King and his fiancé, Jennifer Winningham, Micah Frederick, Logan King, and his partner, Marcus Killabrew.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Myrtle Campbell, his beloved daughter, Sophia Lizette Campbell, his siblings, Norman, Rodney, Gloria, and Nolan Campbell.

In honoring his memory, Louis will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a loving family man, and a friend to all. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering commitment to family and community.

The family would like to thank Denice Alexander, RN with Amedisys Hospice fro her loving care of Mr. Campbell.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral Services for Mr. Campbell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2025, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland.
