Louis Stanley “Pete” Chiasson, 85, of Groves, Texas passed away at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Pete was born at his home in Port Arthur, Texas on February 5, 1937 to the late Percy Chiasson and Alzina Richard Chiasson.
Pete was a graduate of Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur, a member of the Knights of Columbus Groves Chapter and he served his country as a member of the National Guard. After High School, Pete played semipro baseball for three years before he went on to be a car salesman. In Pete’s spare time, he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and he was the catcher for one of the fastest throwing pitchers the league has ever seen. Pete loved to bowl. He was a member of the Port Arthur Men’s Bowling Association and served many times as president. Pete’s bowling game was good enough to take him to the Bowling Nationals where he competed a total of forty-seven times. Pete enjoyed spending time coaching little league, pony and pony colt baseball for Groves. He coached for many years and had a true love for the game and he took pride in teaching his players about the game he loved. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left behind to cherish Pete’s memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Nan Chiasson; his daughter, Suzann Boudoin; his son, Stanley Chiasson and his wife, Diana; his daughter, Toni Chiasson; his son, Bobby Chiasson and his wife, Kris; his son, Chris Chiasson; thirteen grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda Fontenot and her husband, Johnny; and a host of loving extended family members and friends. Pete is preceded in death by his Parents and his sisters, Charlotte Bassett and Faye Sassine.
A Memorial Service to honor Pete’s life will be held by the family at a later date.
