Louis Edward “Dutsy” Abshire of Port Neches passed away on Thursday, April 4th 2024 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Louis was born on November 10th, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Ada Talbot Abshire and Paul Abshire. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor with Quantum in Port Arthur for many years and served his country by enlisting in the National Guard. Louis graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in Port Arthur where he excelled in football and baseball. He enjoyed golf, gardening, coaching but most of all, he enjoyed being with his family who he loved dearly, as they did him. Louis was the best husband, father, Papa, friend and coach to all those whom he loved him.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ada Abshire; stepmother Bertha Abshire whom Louis was raised by; siblings Abbie, Agnes, Dorothy, A.J. and Toby.
Louis is survived by his wife, Jeanette “Jan” Abshire of Port Neches; children, Kyle Abshire and his wife Kim of Spring, Keri Louviere of Port Neches, Kreg Abshire and his wife Elizabeth of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Zachary Abshire and his wife Hannah, Emily Chiu and her husband Michael, Alexandra Owen, Gabrielle Louviere, Parker Louviere, Anthony Abshire, Nora Grace Abshire, Luc Abshire and Emmeline Abshire; great grandchildren, Logan, T.J., Beckett, Carys, Caroline, Oliver and Mylo; brother, Linwood Abshire and his wife Joan of Lumberton.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Saturday, April 13th, 2024 at Melancon-Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas with a Funeral Service to take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.. A private cremation service for the family will take place after the visitation.
