Louis Charles Martin

Louis Charles "L.C." Martin, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away at his residence on Thursday, April 3, 2014 surrounded by his family. L.C. was born July 14, 1926 in Bayou Chicot, Louisiana to Leonard Martin and Elizabeth West Martin. He was a resident of this area for 65 years and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. L.C. was a Maintenance Supervisor at Texaco with 35 years of service and a WWII US Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Reverend Travis Cox officiating. Military Graveside Rites to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the funeral home. L.C. is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mattie Dora Martin. Surviving relatives include his daughter, Sondra Dixon of Nederland, Texas; son, Randy Martin and wife Katherine of Port Neches, Texas; sister, Lillie Hock and husband Dub of Port Neches, Texas; brother, Willie Martin and wife Jane of Lake Jackson, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Matthew Dixon and wife Marla, Mark Dixon and wife Brianne, Randy Keith Martin, Jr. and wife Heather, Rachel Martin, and Haley Martin. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Lane Dixon, Josie Martin, and Claire Martin. The family would like to thank L.C.'s devoted and loving care-givers at Lisa's 24 Hour Care especially Lisa, Elonda, Joyce, and Patricia.
