Lucy Geraldine "Jerry" Brunow Dozier, age 97, went home to her Father in Heaven on April 28, 2018. She was a loving mother and wife, a faithful servant of the Lord, and generous to all she knew. Jerry, a life-long resident of Port Arthur, Texas was born on August 10, 1920 to Johnnie Lake Brown Brunow and Gunther Harry Brunow. Jerry married Harold "Buss" Dozier, April 15, 1938. They had two sons, Harold W. Dozier and Thomas H. Dozier. Their sons married Sondra Kornegay and Pamela Byrd, respectively, and they gave her six grandchildren: Matthew Dozier and Marissa Eby; Melissa Meibos, Mark Dozier, Amy Noel, and James Dozier. She had 14 great-grandchildren; Tyler, Ella, and Avery Dozier; Chloe and Luke Eby; Benjamin and Katelyn Meibos; Austin Dozier; Keith, Jacob, Michael, Jefferson, and Daniel Noel; and Abigale Dozier. Jerry was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When the boys grew up and left home, Jerry developed a new talent. She began attending Lamar University and became a professional artist. She was a lifetime member of the Texas Artist Museum, Gold Coast Fine Arts Association, Port Arthur Art Association, Museum of the Gulf Coast, Port Arthur Little Theater, and Port Arthur Historical Society. Jerry held many offices in the United Methodist Women and served as president of the Beaumont District UMW. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood (Philanthropic Educational Organization) in Port Arthur. Jerrys life was one well lived where God, family, and friends were her focus. She was the glue that held the family together. She will be greatly missed. So until we meet again, we love you Mom, Granmom, Great-Granmom. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 at United Methodist Temple, 4101 Highway 73, Port Arthur, TX. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Artists Museum Society, 3501 Cultural Center Drive, Port Arthur, TX.
