Luther Owen Shoemaker, Sr. 55, died Saturday August 17, 2013 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. Luther was born on February 12, 1958 in Port Arthur to B.W. Shoemaker and Martha Patterson Shoemaker. He was a lifelong resident of the Port Neches and Groves areas and a Veteran of the Army. He was also a retired Dump Truck Driver. Luther is survived by his wife Madeline Shoemaker of Groves, Texas; daughter Carolina Shoemaker of Groves, Texas; three sons Luther Shoemaker, Jr. and wife Sophia of Port Arthur, Texas Jack Shoemaker and wife Misty of Lumberton, Texas and Carl Detweiler III of Lufkin Texas; two sisters Lydia Hopson of Nederland Texas and Frances Romero of Orange Texas; one brother Loyd shoemaker and wife Darlene of Cypress, Texas; four grandchildren, Aleigh, Delta, and Skyla Shoemaker. A memorial service will be Thursday, August 22, 2013 at The Church on the Rock South, 4940 46th Street, Groves, TX.
