M.E. "Bunky" Stephens

M. E. "Bunky" Stephens M. E. "Bunky" Stephens, 83, of Bridge City, Texas passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 7, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas to Charles Stephens and Myrtle "Toot" Landry Stephens. Bunky was a lifelong area resident and member of Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur. He retired as a Tinner from Gulf Oil after 37 years of service. Bunky was a Texas Golden Glove Boxing Champion and a Master Woodcarver of the Texas Wood Carvers Guild. He was a United States veteran serving in the Air Force. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Bill Brazell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bunky was preceded in death by his two brothers, L.C. Stephens, and Michael Wayne Stephens, two sisters, Mary Louise Howell and Amy Elizabeth Harmon, and brother-in-laws, Joe Tolleson, Dr. Wyatt Howell and James Harmon. He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Lucy Ann Stephens of Bridge City, TX, daughter: Suzanne Myers and husband: Tim of Hamshire, TX, two sons: Boyd Dee Stephens and wife, Marie of Montgomery, TX, and M. E. "Buck" Stephens, Jr. and wife, Darlene of Bridge City, TX, two sisters: JoAnn Tolleson of Baytown, TX, and Edna Jane Trahan and husband, James of Warren, TX, brother, Charles Stephens and wife, Margaret, of Spring Branch, TX. Six grandchildren: Seth Stephens, Miranda Tiner and husband, Sean, Josh Myers and wife, Patrice, Brinn Hemmenway and husband, Dallas, Kristina Kinsey and husband, Chris, and Wesley Stephens and six great grandchildren: Bryson Reading, Cachetyn Tiner, Robert "Boomer" Myers and Gavin Myers, Jennifer Kinsey, and Caitlyn Kinsey.
