Marceline Russell Barker, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Marceline was born in Port Arthur, Texas on June 3, 1929 to Edna McFaddin and Homer Thomas Russell. She has lived in Port Arthur all of her life, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She married Milton Lee Barker, Sr. in 1949 and they were married 52 years. Within the first 6 years they had three daughters. After the last of three daughters were in school, Marceline started nursing school at Lamar Tech and became a LVN. Her job was with St. Mary Hospital. In the late 60's she started working for Drs. Goldblum and Lowenstein and was their nurse for several years. Upon the death of Dr. Lowenstein she met Dr. Ramesh Karia and eventually became his chemo nurse for many years. To her and her husband's surprise, they became new parents once again with the birth of their son, Lee in 1969. She continued to work for Dr. Karia part-time until 2010, retiring at the age of 80. She also provided care through various home health agencies in the area. Marceline is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Left to mourn her passing are three daughters, Diane (Myers Foreman), Kathleen (M.J. Ponsegrau), Patricia (Ronald Koziuk); one son Milton Lee Barker, Jr. (wife Lorie); seven grandchildren, Corey, Karissa, Chad, Kimberly, Jason, Aidon and Koan; and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Last but not least her beloved cat "Miss Scarlet" also known as CUJO. Marceline was a very caring person with a heart of gold and a feisty spirit. She possessed a sometimes wicked sense of humor that did not fall far from the tree. She enjoyed her last two years at Rose House Assisted Living in Port Arthur. The family would like to thank the staff of Rose House for their time and love with special thanks to Jocelyn and Kim. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Travis Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
