Groves/Houston - Margaret Ann Smith, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 quietly at home in Houston, Texas. She was born on March 17, 1932 in Joaquin, Texas, and was a resident of Groves, Texas for over 50 years. Margaret was a retired school teacher in Port Neches-Groves Independent School District with 39 years of service. She was a member of Groves First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was heavily involved in the childrens ministries. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and Beta Sigma Phi and was a Veterans wife. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Groves First Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Worley and Reverend Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM in Joaquin Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas with Reverend Paul Silvie officiating under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home of Groves, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. There will also be a celebration of life at the Conservatory at Champion Forest, Spring TX on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 1:30 where she lived the last seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband R. Gary Smith also of Groves, Texas. She is survived by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson of Beaumont, Texas; two daughters, Mary Margaret Foisy and husband, Michael of Shreveport, Louisiana and Gari Lynn Martin and husband, Daryl of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Brian Olds and wife, Kelly, Ashley Olds, Jeffery Martin and Jennifer Crain and husband, Chris; three great-grandchildren Slade, Riley and Cooper. Margaret also had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved.
