Marguerite Ramke Concienne

November 8, 1911 — October 31, 2010

Marguerite "Nonnie" Ramke Concienne, 98, of Groves left this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday evening at 11:30 pm, October 31, 2010. Marguerite was born near Abbeville, Louisiana on November 8, 1911, to Otto and Lydia Cessac Ramke; but spent most of her life in Port Neches, Port Arthur and Groves. As a young adult she was employed for several years by Woolworth's Five and Dime Store on Procter Street, Port Arthur; and throughout her life she strived to perfect her chosen hobby-craft: Crocheting, where she spent many hours filling her house and the houses of her friends and relatives with myriad pieces of her crochet art. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Maude Ramke, her husband Sterling Concienne; her brothers: RB and Alex Pickett; and her great grandson Gary Hollis. Marguerite is survived by her daughter: Barbara Castille Whiddon of Mauriceville, her son: John Concienne of Groves, her sister Lula Mae Molbert of Nome, her grandchildren: Glenda Watson and husband James of Kirbyville, Ben Justice and wife Diane of Bridge City, Tina Hollis and husband Bobby of Orange, Lori Sears and husband Ken of Houston, and Scott Price of Mauriceville. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and four nieces and one nephew. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home and officiating will be Bro. Warren Wargo of Lamar Baptist Church in Beaumont. Graveside rites will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: James Watson, Dale McCauley, Charles McCauley, Ben Justice, Bobby Hollis, and Don Berard. The family wants to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Glenda Watson, Marguerite's granddaughter, and Glenda's husband James for opening their home and hearts in order to care for their "Nonnie" in the final weeks of her life. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Dee Watson, RN; Stacy Goodwin, RN; Bro. Mike Neel; and the entire staff of Lakes Area Hospice, Jasper, Texas, for the kind and compassionate care they lovingly provided for Marguerite.
