Marie (Coolie) Broussard Lackey, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on July 28, 2024, in Groves, Texas. She was born on February19, 1932, in Broussard, Louisiana.

Marie was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family with love and grace. She will be remembered for the joy she found in hosting Thanksgiving gatherings every year, creating cherished memories for her loved ones.

In her free time, Marie had a passion for writing poems and was known for her talent in this art form. Additionally, she was admired for her culinary skills and was renowned for being a great cook.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Inez (Dubois) Begnaud and George Begnaud; as well as her brother, Jerry Begnaud. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy-four years, Quincy C. Lackey of Groves; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Derrell and Tonyia Lackey of Nederland; granddaughter, Brittany Meshwert and her husband Jason of Bridge City; as well as her sister, Madeline Badon and her husband Rodney of Hamshire.

Services to honor and celebrate Marie's life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service, at 2:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas.

Cremation services are under the direction of Melancon Levingston Funeral Home.

Marie (Coolie) Broussard Lackey will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
