Marilyn Elaine Romero-Ramsey, 67, of Orange, TX passed away August 15, 2010. She was born on October 12, 1942; was a life long resident of the area graduating from Bishop Byrne High School. Marilyn started her career at the Selective Service and then later worked and retired from TOTAL Petrochemicals with over 25 years of service. Additionally, she volunteered for Muscular Dystrophy for over 10 years as well as volunteered for United Way, Salvation Army and numerous fund raisers. Always ready to dance to get the party started, Marilyn was known for her "big hair" and colorful fashion sense which perfectly suited her "big personality". She especially enjoyed sharing the holidays with loved ones and her annual tradition was to decorate her Christmas tree with a "special theme". One of the best was the "Rita Tree" in which she creatively used debris from the hurricane as decorations. This fun-loving, caring and compassionate woman will be missed by her husband, sons, granddaughters, family and friends. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her supportive husband of 17 years, Mark Ramsey; sons Doug Romero of Groves, TX, Dwayne Romero and wife Margaret of Aspen, CO and David Romero and partner David Greiss of Houston, TX; granddaughters Destiny Martin and husband Cody of Fort Worth, TX and Perry, Grace and Abigail Romero of Aspen, CO. Other survivors include sister Carol Barras, brother Ron Barras and wife Anna, mother-in-law Wanda Ramsey and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph D. and Gussie Marie Barras and sister and brother-in-law JoAnn and Richard Landry. Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, August 17 with a Vigil Service at 5:30pm at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10:00am also at Levingston followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Memorial donations may be to Muscular Dystrophy Association (
