Marjorie Olivia Choate

Marjorie O. (Weldon) Choate, our beautiful mother passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the age of nearly 91. She was born August 28, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas to Eula and Edward Weldon. She is now with her beloved husband, Charles "Emery" Choate, her son, Christopher Ray Choate, her parents and step-father Ray Faulkner, and her two brothers, Edward Weldon, and James Weldon. She is survived by her sister, Willie B. Gonsoulin of Houston and children, Mary Beth Lettiere (Michael), Orting, WA, Michael Choate (Julie), Groves, TX, Patrick Choate (Julie), Golden, CO, Donna Choate, Pt. Neches, TX, Joseph Choate, Groves, TX and daughter-in-law, Pam Choate, Pt. Neches, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dominic Lettiere (Wendy), Tania Chambers (Jason), Karen Collier (Tad), Aaron Lettiere (Alyssa), Kevin Choate, Cathy Broussard (JoJo), Timothy Choate, Sarah Picou (Richard), and Paul Choate. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren, Andrew, Grace and Ethan (Dominic), Isabella, and Emilia (Aaron), Claire, and Cole (Cathy), Austin, Haleigh, Jacob, and Mathew (Sarah), Nathan (Tania), Colten and Jordan,(Karen); and her nieces and nephews. Marjorie attended St. Mary Schools and at the age of thirteen, began her career as church organist. She graduated valedictorian from St. Mary High School in 1940. She went on to Port Arthur College, before she married Charles Emery Choate and traveled with him while he was in the Navy, during World War II. She worked as a secretary to Mr. Land, of the Polaroid Land Camera fame, during her travels on the East Coast during the war. She and Emery started their family in 1946. In 1951, she reestablished herself as church organist at Immaculate Conception Church, in Groves, TX for 56 years. She was active in the Mother's Club at I.C.S., The Altar Society and Church Choir at Immaculate Conception. She also belonged to the Diocese of Beaumont Choir and Biblical Study Group. She was a Den Mother, in the Cub Scouts, and a long-time member of the Golden Triangle Organ Club. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX on Sunday, July 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 29th at Immaculate Conception Church in Groves at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. May God bless you and your loved one. Donations may be sent to the American Heart Association.

I will always remember her as someone who spoke her mind. An honest and true person. She loved her children and all her grandchildren and great also...She is now peaceful and with her love..Emery...what more can we ask for in our after life...may we all have that blessing.

Margie was a lovely person. I remember playing at her home with all the children and how welcome she always made us feel. Our prayers are with her family.
