Marjorie "Maggie" Thibodeaux

1947 ∼ 2024

Marjorie Dean Thibodeaux, 76, of Nederland, Texas known fondly as "Maggie," passed away peacefully at her residence on February 6, 2024 with her loving family at her side.

She was born on February 10, 1947, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Lelia Camille Day Murphy and Calvin Seth Murphy.  Maggie was a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland.  She had a strong passion for collecting things to decorate her house and create an inviting and loving environment for her family and friends. Whether it was scouring antique stores or exploring garage sales, she had an uncanny ability to find unique treasures that brought beauty into her home. Her impeccable taste and attention to detail were admired by all who entered her sanctuary.

Beyond her exquisite flair for design, Maggie was deeply committed to serving others. With unwavering compassion, she dedicated much of her time to helping shut-ins from her church and extending a helping hand to anyone in need. Maggie's philanthropic spirit radiated through every act of kindness she performed, making a profound impact on the lives of those she encountered.

In addition to her benevolent nature, Maggie thrived on discovering new horizons through travel. Having lived in various places alongside her beloved family, she embraced the richness of different cultures and experiences. Yet amidst her adventures, there was no doubt that Maggie's main focus remained steadfastly fixed on the well-being and happiness of those closest to her heart.

Maggie's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Ronald Lynn Thibodeaux, whose unwavering support made their journey through life together extraordinary. Their bond served as a testament to the power of true love and partnership.  She also leaves behind two devoted sons: Ronald Lynn Thibodeaux Jr. and Patrick Seth Thibodeaux and his wife Stacy, all of Katy, Texas. Maggie's grandchildren, Bryant Thibodeaux, Mia Thibodeaux, Tyler Thibodeaux, Evan Thibodeaux, Caden Thibodeaux, and Brianne Thibodeaux will remember her as a light in their lives, forever treasuring the love and wisdom she bestowed upon them.

Maggie is preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Camille Murphy. She is also preceded by her dear sister Patricia Murphy.

A gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Nederland followed by a “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service to Honor the life and Memory of Marjorie “Maggie” Thibodeaux to be conducted at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church. A Bereavement Meal will be held after the services at the church hall.

Maggie's light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts as we navigate the journey of life without her physical presence. May she rest in eternal peace.

I am saddened to hear of Maggie’s passing but rejoice in her transition from this world to her eternal home with Christ. I first met she and Ronald after their home was flooded by hurricane Harvey. From that point on she always greeted me so warmly with a hug each time I entered the FBC Nederland sanctuary on Sunday mornings. I shall always remember Maggie.

Ronnie, we didn’t know you and Maggie very well, but you were highly thought about and spoken of by my sister and her husband - Sandi and Jim Kovach. They have both passed and know they are rejoicing in heaven! Prayers for you all.

"When we feel sadness, pain, and longing as we remember someone we've lost, it is respectful. To feel, is to honor the life and relationship we shared. To acknowledge, (even if the vehicle of acknowledgement is grief), says that the person we loved, mattered." Maggie mattered to us. We feel the pain, we grieve with you, and offer condolences to the family.

From the moment I met sweet Maggie in 2018 at my (and Ronnie's) 50th high school reunion, I felt like I had known her all my life. Such a caring heart, so real. In any conversation we had (phone calls or written) she always said, "What's going on with you?" or "Do you need specific prayers?" She loved to share God's word and was a faithful prayer warrior. I'm so thankful I saved many of her emails and devotionals. Prayers for Ronnie, Ron and Patrick and all the grandchildren.

Aunt Maggie was one of the most loving and caring people I have ever known. The joy she carried with her daily was truly inspirational. She never met a stranger and her husband, Uncle Ronnie, her jewels, Ron and Patrick, and her legacy, the grandbabies were her heart. I loved reading her emails / Facebook posts, always encouraging everyone to keep going and not focus on the struggles of life. I will miss her calls on my birthday - I love you Aunt Maggie. My prayers and love for Uncle Ronnie, Ron, Patrick, Aunt Marilyn, and the family.
