Martha Cummings Busby, 84, of Nederland, Texas passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021. Martha was born on October 3, 1936 in Athens, Texas to Herman and Addie Cummings.

Martha was a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland and a retired bookkeeper.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman E. Cummings and Addie Mae Bowman Cummings; and her children, Kristi Smith of Beaumont, TX; and Laura Busby of Nederland, TX.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Thomas Busby; son, Donald Busby (Jane) of Nederland, TX; grandchildren, Angie Smith (Aundrea) of Humble, TX; Ryan Busby (Bethany) of Danville, VA; Megan Anderson (Andrew) of Waxahachie, TX; Paige Austin (Matthew) of Orangefield, TX; Adam Busby (Leah) of Orangefield, TX; great grandchildren, Connor Jackson, Liam Anderson, Sadie Busby, Anthony Auston, Rory Busby, Blair Anderson, Remy Busby, Mia Austin and Rhett Busby.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. There will be no services for Ms. Martha at this time.

Martha was a sweet sweet lady. I will miss her sweet smile. She loved Thomas and her kids and grandkids so very much.. I will miss her at the monthly class luncheons.. She was an example of what a Christian should be.

Martha was a beautiful soul. She trained me for my job before she retired and was always so kind to all of us here at Barbay. She treated us like family and often came by and visited and brought us goodies. There will never be another Martha and we loved her dearly. Beautiful inside and out. Krisha
