Marvin Raye Dement, 87, of Beaumont, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Calder Woods Assisted Living in Beaumont, Texas. Marvin was born April 30, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas to Fred Dement and Mattie Stanley Dement. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Groves First United Methodist Church. Marvin retired from Gulf/Chevron as a lab technician with 36 years of service. He was member of the Commadores and the Local OCAW Union. Marvin proudly served in the U. S. Navy. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Shirley Dement of Beaumont; daughter, Brooks Cima and husband Dennis of League City; son, Mark Dement and wife Jovita of LaBelle; brother, Bruce Dement and wife Helen of Roanoke; and four grandchildren, Mindy, Erin, Derick, and Caitlin; seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jack, Josie, Joaquin, Tallulah, Winnie, and Lee. A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by a military graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
