My beloved Granny. She was the most kindhearted soul that I believe I will ever know. She was more than just a grandmother to me. She was a truly caring and loving person who would never think twice about going out of her way to help everyone around her. Her kindness, compassion, and selflessness touched the lives of anyone around her, and she was a pillar of strength and love in our family. I will forever cherish and miss her unmatched cooking skills, long talks in the kitchen, and hope to become even half the woman she was. The best grandmother to ever exist, Granny, was also a mother and a best friend all in one to me. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Lydia Bush

Mom was a survivor. She could handle anything that came her way, good or bad. She was a hard worker, always taking care of everyone else, especially her family. She was a strong woman. One of her greatest abilities was her cooking. No one could ever duplicate her meals. Everything she cooked was awesome and she didn’t have the internet to help her, she just knew exactly how to do it. She was very opinionated and determined. You knew she was Cajun whenever she talked. She had her own pronunciation of words, it was her own way. We will never forget all the things she did for us. We miss you and love you.

Mama… The sweetest name of all. One who puts all others ahead of herself. That’s what mama did for her kids, grandkids, family & friends. She was a giver & a helper to many. What most people remember best about is her absolutely amazing cooking. All her dishes were so tasty. Everyone of us could name our favorite thing she cooked. She knew what each of us liked & she always had it ready. In the mornings, she would get up early to cook breakfast for anyone passing through or staying overnight. I can still remember the peanut butter cookies she made for her nephew in the Air Force. She took such care & pride as she pressed the “tic-tac-toe” design into each cookie with a fork. A few things that Mama & I shared were the joy of doing the newspaper Word Jumbles & Sodoku puzzles & coffee in the mornings at the kitchen table. We both liked to write - making lists, writing notes & letters, calculating (no calculators then). We are both excellent spellers. She could spell words of which she didn’t even know the meaning. Mama was the reason I pushed myself off to college. It was very hard to leave her but I was inspired by the business courses she took at Port Arthur College & she encouraged me to take business courses. She was a master of many things— cooking of course, fixing things around the house, maintence on the cars, painting the house, tending to our cuts & bruises. She handled everything life threw at her & she kept on moving forward. I am so grateful she passed many of those skills on to me. I love you Mom! I think what she would want for all of us moving forward is to carry on her spirit of caring & doing for others. I hope we all will take time to reflect on what she did for each of us throughout our lives. Rest in peace Mom! We are all here for you. We love you! Cheryl
