Mary Janet Coody, 80, of Orange, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Orange, Texas. Mary was born in Cresson, Pennsylvania on October 8, 1939 to the late, Thomas Andrew Eger and Katherine Louise Dawson Eger.

Mary attended Lamar University and was a retired nurse with 25 years of service with Baptist Hospital in Orange.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Beverly Ellis and her husband, Jerry; son, Michael Coody and his wife, Brenda; siblings, Fred Eger, Ruth Brothers, Susan Behe and Bernadette McGuire; grandchildren, Jacie Bowser and her husband, Ryan, Clay Willey and his wife, Corie, Katie Ray and her husband, Aaron, Heather Landers and her husband, Garrett, Britney Holy and her husband, Gregory; great-grandchildren, Julius and Gabriel Bowser, Paisley, Bristol and Mason Ray, Cooper and Casen Willey, Cash and Landon Landers and Baby Holy which is due is 4 months.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Eger, Jerome Eger and Alvin Eger and her sister, Delores Hawthorne.

Cremation services are under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
