Mary Anne Drago Sigur, 59, of Port Arthur, Texas, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family members and supported by the prayers of her many friends as she left this world to be with the Lord.
Mary Anne was born on May 4, 1960, to the late Charles Joseph Drago and Rosalie Colletti Drago of Port Arthur, Texas. After attending St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School and graduating from Bishop Byrne High School, she received her degree in business administration from Lamar University, graduating at the top of her class. For several years she worked as the manager of Kinko's in Beaumont. After leaving Kinko's, Mary Anne helped her brother start his own company in 2000. For the last eleven years she served faithfully as a teacher and librarian at St. Catherine School in Port Arthur.
Mary Anne was married to Michael René Sigur on July 4, 1992. She and Michael were the proud parents of Father Joseph René Sigur, a priest of the Diocese of Beaumont, Charles Michael Sigur of Irving, and Anna Marie Sigur of Port Arthur.
Mary Anne was a lifelong member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur. She volunteered for several years as the parish youth minister, and as a teacher in the religious education program.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 27 years, Michael René Sigur, of Port Arthur; her sons, Father Joseph René Sigur of Port Arthur and Charles Michael Sigur of Irving; her daughter, Anna Marie Sigur of Port Arthur; and her brothers, Joseph Charles Drago of Port Arthur and Lawrence Paul Drago and his wife Tania of Nederland. She is survived in death by numerous nieces and nephews and is preceded in death by her parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur with a Christian Vigil being held at 6pm and a Rosary being recited at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Monday, June 24, 2019, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur, with her son, Father Joseph Sigur as the celebrant. The internment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Melancon's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School Library.
