Mary Bonita Fontenot

Mary Bonita Fontenot, 75, of Nederland died, Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. Joseph Daleo and Msgr. Dan Malain officiating with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be at St. Charles Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Street in Nederland, from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, July 6th, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Waguespack, Brian Waguespack, Michael Christopher Cascio, Trent McGee, Robert Mills, and Shane Mabrey.
Mary was a native of Orange where she graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She attended Lamar State College of Technology where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. She lived in Nederland for 50 years and retired from the Nederland ISD with over 30 years of service at Central Middle School and remained an avid Nederland Bulldog fan. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland for fifty years serving as an Eucharistic Minister for many years. She also was a member of TSTA, Aggie Moms and of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Her life was one of dedication to God and love for her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband, Harry M. Fontenot Jr. of Nederland; daughter, Anne Marie Singleton of Nederland; sons, Harry Fontenot III of Nederland and Louis Fontenot and his wife, Alicia of Nederland; five grandchildren, Mattie Fontenot and Sadie Fontenot, Trent McGee, and Grace Singleton and Drake Singleton; one great granddaughter, Arianna Mabrey; sisters, Jo Ann Waguespack and her husband, Burnell of Orange, Louise Cascio and husband, Michael of Orange, and Christine Mathews of Orange; brother-in-laws, Louis Trahan of Port Neches, and Ronnie Fontenot and his wife, Phillis of Bryan; sister-in-laws, Barbara Fontenot of Fannett, and Sandra Bergeron and her husband, Tommy of Beaumont. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Kenny Blanda and the staff of Magnolia Manor and Mary’s devoted caregivers, Pat Gibson and Lena Jones.
