Mary Jane Gutierez, passed away on November 26, 2024, in Cypress, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on September 19, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas, she was a lifelong area resident and a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Mary Jane was the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Gutierez, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Bishop and Mary Jane Thompson, and her siblings, which included four brothers and one sister.
Mary Jane is survived by her children, son Paul Gutierez and his wife Gina of Nederland; daughter Susan Gutierez of Groves; and daughter Jennifer Chesnutt and her husband Bryan of Cypress, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joella Gutierez, Caleb Gutierez, Samuel Gutierez and his wife, Sophie, Micaela Gutierez, Gabrielle Guilbeaux and her husband Daniel, Halle Chesnutt, Daniel Gutierez, and Pearson Chesnutt; great-grandson, Ryan Gutierez and one niece Roxie Migues.
Mary Jane was a joyful person who enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was especially proud of her ability to make people feel special through her talents of quilting and sewing.
Her visitation will take place on December 6, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, both held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, located at 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619. She will have a graveside service immediately following her service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
