Mary was born on December 8, 1926, in Port Neches, TX, and was the sixth child born to the late Otha Joseph Sarver, Sr., and Octavine Ravey Sarver. Her mother passed away just weeks after her birth and Mary went to live with her Uncle and Aunt, the late Leazy Trahan and Eda Ravey Trahan, in Lake Arthur, La. At the age of thirteen she moved to Port Arthur, TX to be with her father and brothers and sister and had been a resident of the Golden Triangle area from that time, most recently residing in Bridge City and Groves. Mary was a member of the quotgreat generationquot. She would send news from home to her four brothers who were serving is the U.S. military forces during World War II. She reported the news from home as only a cheerful teenager could. Mary was also one of the first ones to pile into her sister39s car to head down to Procter Street to celebrate the end of the war. After graduating from St. James High School, she was employed at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for several years and also worked at St. Mary39s Hospital.Mary is preceded in death by four loving parents her son, Mark Anthony Hebert grandson Shawn Robbins sister, Lillian Sarver Guillory brothers, Roy James Sarver, David Claude Sarver, Charles Leon Sarver and O. J. Sarver, Jr. and loving fiance, Tom Brown.She is the beloved mother of Sharon Hebert Montgomery and husband Bob of Nederland, Karen Hebert Bynum and husband Don of Nederland and Lauren Hebert Edgar and husband Chad of Groves. She is the devoted grandmother of 7 grandchildren cherished great grandmother of 9 greatgrandchildren. Mary loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She was a great cook and always had room for one more at her table and everyone had better be ready to eat spicy cajun cooking. Mary could cook enough gumbo to feed an army. She was always ready to help her family whenever needed be it cooking a meal to take to them, sitting with them or caring for them in her home, taking them to doctor or hospital.Mary enjoyed going dancing and family and friends. She was just as comfortable dancing a Cajun waltz as she was jitterbugging. She particularly liked celebrating birthdays at Larry39s French Market.Funeral services were held at Melancon39s Funeral Home Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Chris Bottoms officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City.
