Mary Jean Loretta Solorzano

1953 ∼ 2021

Mary Jean Loretta Solorzano, 67, of Port Neches, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Mary Jean was born May 10, 1953 in Pueblo, Colorado to Gene Maese and Mary Lou Gomez Maese.

She was a resident of this area for 40 years and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.

Mary Jean was a retired Registered Nurse having worked at Mid-Jefferson Hospital and Texan Plus.

Mary loved her family more than anything in the world and was equally loved by her family. She valued the importance of family and loved nothing more than spending time with her grandkids. She loved the simple things in life, whether it was curled up in a blanket with one of her grandpuppies watching movies or sitting on the deck with her "love" Tom watching the grandkids play and swim, she was happy. She was very loving and caring and welcomed everyone into her home and always made them feel like they were part of the family and would never let anyone leave with an empty stomach.

After retiring she would go back home to Pueblo, Colorado as often as she could to help care for her Daddy, Gene, whom she loved dearly. Just as she did for her family in Texas, she always made sure her family in Colorado was taken care of.

She will be remembered for the love and compassion she showed everyone and as a devoted, loving and compassionate wife and mother.

She will be greatly missed...

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a Rosary recited at 10:45 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend Shane Baxter officiating.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Gomez-Maese.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Tom Solorzano, Sr.; father, Gene Maese; sons, Thomas Solorzano, Jr., Adam Solorzano and wife Becky, and Nathan Solorzano and wife Lindsay; brothers, Larry Maese, Eddie Maese and wife Donna, Frank Maese and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Brittany and partner Crystal, Allissa and husband Colby, Manae and husband Steven, Xzavier and wife Tracy, Victor, Mason, Lexi, Hannah, Emma, AJ, Anthony, Marcus, Keira; and great-grandchild, Hunter.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you Momma. I miss you more than words can describe. Life just isn't the same without you. You were such a loving, caring and compassionate mom. I could and would, talk to you about anything and you would always give it to me straight. I learned a lot from you and will pass what you taught me to my children and grandchildren. I know you're looking down on all of us, and that gives me some comfort and I know I'll see you again. Until then, I know you'll continue to watch over each and every one of us. I love you. Your baby boy, Nathan

Early recollection, you were such a beauty with your straight long hair growing up. Your wedding to the love of your life, Tom. The hilarious and fun times we had hanging out, as we stood up in the cousin weddings. Memory, Rudy wedding and hanging out at Uncle Gene's laundermat. Having a great time, Sunny Ozuna dance in Pueblo. Cousin to Compadres, thank you for that honor. Going to Italy and taking Aunt Marylou. So blessed to spend that time together. Lenny and I meeting you and Tom in Colorado Springs for breakfast. Hearing about your sons and your much adored grandchildren, you could see the sparkle in your eyes when you told us about them. So grateful to have spent that time together. Your inner beauty reflected on the outside. Lenny and I send heartfelt love, prayers for Tom, Uncle Gene, sons and grandchildren. You will continue to live through the beautiful memories and our love for you in our hearts. Rest dear precious cousin. Love you eternally

My sister and I stayed over at Mrs. Mary's countless times as kids and was always felt so welcome. She made sure every single one of us was taken care of and fed, etc. My family and I will always hold her and the rest of the Solorzano's close to our hearts.

Mary had a heart of gold, with a loving smile and big hugs for all the kids. She was the heart of their home. She loved her children and grandchildren and they loved her. She will be missed greatly, but she will be rejoined with her family again one day. Prayers of comfort and peace for Tom and the entire Solorzano family.

Our niece Mary Jean will be GREATLY missed by the "Maese" Family. Your laughter is something we will always remember as you enjoyed sharing time as a family when you came to Colorado. We thank this "precious" niece for the love she showed in taking care of our brother, Gene, from a distance when she couldn't be here. She is so loved for all she did to help him reach the age of 90!! We love you and will always remember you! Love, Your Uncles and Aunts

Mary and I worked together 6 years before she retired. She was a Beautiful soul and a joy to work with. We had many fun filled days together. I told her one time when I was in the process of building my home on the lake, I had her and Tom a room ready whenever they got ready for vacation. I was really looking forward to that. I will 💟 miss her dearly. She loved her Family more than anything. She made me laugh even when I felt like crying. I know God has a Special Angel now. Go rest High on the Mountain, Mary. I want say goodbye, just so long until we meet again. Love you ❤️
