Mary Beth Mahon, 64, passed away on April 21, 2018.
Born in 1954 in Pasadena, Texas to William “Bill” and Burnadean Riggins, Mary graduated in 1972 from Jessie H. Jones High School in Houston, Texas and then attended Lubbock Christian College and later went to nursing school where she obtained her LVN license. She worked for hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health and private duty care during her career and she always had passion for the profession and loved being a nurse and caring for others. She loved to cook and make meals and sweet treats for family and friends, sew and cross-stitch, play dominos and cards and loved cats.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Myron; her parents and her siblings; David Riggins, Judith Barker and Janice Riggins. She is survived by her children, Kaylea Andrews (Zach) and John Mahon; her Aunt Doris Butler; cousin, Gene (Dona) Butler; brother-in-law, Michael Barker and his wife, Judy; mother-in-law, Mary Nell Mahon; brother-in-law, Monte Mahon (Rebecca); sister-in-law, Emily Bullock (Joe); a host of nephews and nieces; and her four-legged child, Freebie.
My brother and I would like to thank Dr. John Lee and his staff; the staff of Harbor Hospice; and Tyra, Wanda, Viola, Ashley and Courtney for their loving and compassionate care of mom during the last months of her life.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Nederland Church of Christ in Nederland on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., Minister Michael Williams officiating.
