Mary Jane Tidwell, 76, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at her residence in Nederland surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on October 31, 1945, in Grapevine, Arkansas to Audrey Marie Little Smithy and Fayette William Smithy. She was a retired custodian with the Nederland I.S.D. and was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland. Mary loved to bake and did several wedding cakes for family and friends; she enjoyed quilting for family, friends and church members and was very active in her church with her husband Roy helping with meals and other volunteer work; but most of all, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She spoiled them and they loved her as she did them. Mary was a special lady who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-one years, Roy Tidwell of Nederland; children, Billy Harper and his wife Wanda of Nederland, Steven Harper of Nederland, Troy Harper of Groves and Michelle Gutierrez and her husband Omar of Lumberton, Texas; step-children, Ray Tidwell and his wife Lisa of Lumberton and Joey Tidwell of Providence, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Dustin Harper, Trent Harper, Craig Harper and Elizabeth Harper; step-grandchildren, Sarah Tidwell, Emma Tidwell and Ian Tidwell.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Odessa Jackson and Joy Laday; her brother, Gene Smithy and her first husband of thirty-four years, Billy Wayne Harper, Sr.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Hillcrest Baptist Church located at 3324 Park Drive, Nederland, TX 77627. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Dustin Harper, Trent Harper, Craig Harper, Robert McCullers Ray Tidwell and Joey Tidwell.
