Marye Jo Fertitta, 86, formerly of Groves, Texas passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at The Home Place in Ganado, Texas. Marye Jo was born January 27, 1926 in Bossier City, Louisiana to James Russell Roy and Hurteline Wilson Roy. She was a lifelong area resident before moving to Jackson County, Texas 13 years ago. She was a secretary at Ridgewood Elementary School and retired after 20 years of service. She was a member of Woodcrest Baptist Church in Groves, the Home Extension Club and Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony "Tony" Fertitta; and brother, Wilson Robertson. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Born and husband, Cliff of Vanderbilt, TX; two sisters, Peggy Mannino of Groves, TX, and Marusa John and husband, Joe of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Abbey Sanders and husband, Sam of Edna, TX, Leigh Ann Berry and husband, Lance of Colorado Springs, CO; and great-grandchild, Madelyn Sanders. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will begin Saturday at 12 noon-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
