Matthew James Bodden, 31 of Houston formerly of Nederland, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at his grandmother's residence. Matthew was born on July 1, 1986 in Galveston to the late Nelson Bodden, Jr. and Juanita Halbert Bodden. He was a lifelong resident of Nederland and he worked in the construction industry as a welder.

Matthew is survived by his fiancé, Astrid Carlson; son, Alexander Bodden; brothers, Nelson Bodden, III and wife Jessica Grahm and Grant Bodden; sister, Hannah Bodden; grandparents, Nelson Bodden, Sr. and wife, Ellen; grandmother, Helen Barnett; uncle, Chris Bodden; aunts, Dorothy Bailey and Joanna Beard and husband, James; nieces, Dihanna, Bianka and Piper. He is preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. The funeral service will be on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Nedid Albert Clavijo officiating also at the funeral home. The interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
