Matthew "Matt" John Orlando

April 18, 1953 — February 24, 2025

Nederland, Texas

Matthew "Matt" John Orlando, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 71. Born on April 18, 1953, in Beaumont, Matt led a full and meaningful life characterized by his devotion to family and strong work ethic.

For 42 years, he dedicated himself to Lion Elastomers in Port Neches, where he was known not only for his exceptional leadership but also for the kindness that defined his character. A true handyman at heart, he took pride in his ability to fix anything, sharing his skills and knowledge generously with those around him.

Matt's greatest joy, however, came from his loving marriage to his wife, Linda Orlando, whom he met on a blind date when he was just 18 years old. Their love story, which began in 1974, blossomed into a beautiful relationship that lasted 50 wonderful years. It was love at first sight, and together, they created a warm and nurturing family environment for their two sons.

He is survived by his dear wife, Linda Orlando of Nederland; his son, Matthew Orlando and his wife Mandy, and his cherished grandson, Jonathan Orlando, all of St. Joseph, MI; Matt was also a proud brother to his siblings, leaving behind his brothers, Dominic Orlando and his wife Bridget, and Joe Orlando; his sisters, Catherine Polverari and her husband Ed, Rosemary Brown, JoAnn Burton and her husband Thomas, Jonnie Broussard and her husband Pat, and brother-in-law, Robert Horn, Jr., along with a host of loving nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

Matt had a vibrant personality, filled with quick wit and a love for telling jokes, which endeared him to many. His interests were varied and rich; he found joy in fishing with his brothers at Pleasure Island, tailgating at Lamar Football games, watching Astros and Cowboys games, spending time in his garden, and playing the guitar. Though his presence will be deeply missed, he is reunited in eternal rest with his parents, John and Marie Orlando; his son, Christopher "Chris" Orlando; and his sister, Concetta "Chetta" Josephine Horn.

The memories of Matt's kindness, generosity, and humor will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
