Mattie Fay Herring
Mattie Fay (Richbourg) Herring passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her home in Port Arthur surrounded by the love and warmth of her family.
A celebration of her life will be held at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, on October 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mattie was born December 17, 1928, in Broken Bow, OK. She moved to Port Arthur at an early age and had lived there for over seventy-five years. She was the owner of Acres Grocery in Port Acres for many years where customers and friends referred to her affectionately as Miss Mattie. In retired life she enjoyed welcoming friends and family, where there was always a pot of coffee and laughs to be had. She was also known to have a couple of favorite slot machines at the casino, making memories with every spin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost seventy years, Tony A. Herring, and by a son Ricky Glenn Herring. Also preceding her was one grandson Justin Jackson.
She is survived by a daughter Pamela K. LeBlanc of Port Arthur and a son Tony L. Herring of Maggie Valley, N.C. Also, by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.
