Mavis Marie Norris, 77, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves. Mavis was born on September 24, 1944, in Leesville, Louisiana to the late Katherine and Willis Wales.

Mavis enjoyed fishing and the peacefulness that came with it.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Willis W. Wales and Katherine Irene (Mayo) Wales; son, John Christopher Baxter; and grandchildren, Tori Caylen Beavers and Jacob Ryan Beavers.

Those left to cherish Mavis’ memory are her children, Alissa Esthay and her husband, George Gutierrez; Sherry Renee Esthay, Stacy Baxter, Anthony Paul Peake and his wife, Nicole; Tammy Peake, Justin Paul Norris and his wife, Sherry; grandchildren, Randi Nicole Peeples, Jessica Baxter, Tiffany Davis and her husband, Logan, Christina Baxter, Harith Alshaibani, Hinna Mohammad, Jayden Peake, Kamryn Peake, Ryan Peake, Kendall Peake and Gavin Norris; great grandchildren, Dylan Durden, Tyler Durden, Christopher Baxter, Gabriel Baxter, Makayla Baxter, Bentley Baxter and Aiden Davis.

A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Mavis’ Life to being at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Passion Church, 6200 39th St., Groves, Texas. Following the service, the family will gather at Doornbos Heritage Park at the Parks and Recreation Center, 2301 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas.
