Max William Myers, Sr. born on December 9, 1939 passed away on October 17, 2013 at his home in Groves after a battle with cancer. He was a native Texan and a longtime resident of Oberlin, La. and recently moved back to Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Groves and a member of the Yellow Pine Masonic Lodge #282 in Oakdale, LA. He was also a member of the Iron Workers Local 125 in Nederland, TX. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Brenda "BJ" Myers; his children Max Myers, Jr. and Sharon Eaves both of Buna, Anita Penley of Port Neches, Carl Myers of Vidor, Rick Resch of LaPorte, and Scott Resch of Groves; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; two brothers Marvin of Houston and Dalton of Corpus Christi; one sister Doris Stewart of Angleton; and a countless number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Mike Resch; brothers, Earl, James and Larry; and sister, Darlene. What our daddy was to us: He was a man of God. He was strong in his faith. He was our hero. He was a good husband, father and brother. He was always a hard worker and instilled that in us all. He always encouraged us to be the best we could be in whatever we were doing. He was a mentor. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Oakland Springs Cemetery in Oberlin, LA. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
