Maxine Smith, 93, of Groves, Texas passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013. Maxine was born August 23, 1919 in Mineral Springs, Arkansas to C. E. Sutton and Mattie Willett Sutton. Maxine attended business school and was a bookkeeper while living in Arkansas. She was a resident of Groves for 63 years and was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Smith and her daughter, Phyllis Kroh; also three sisters and one brother. Survivors include two grandsons, Brian Todd of Saipan and Kevin Baxter of Groves; one brother, Gene Sutton of Fordyce, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A visitation for family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m./noon on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Travis Cox officiating. Burial will be in Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
