Melba Frances Clark, 85, of Groves, Texas passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at her home where she has lived since 1950. Melba was born August 3, 1926 in Center, Texas to Levi Fitts and Neva Boles Fitts. She was a lifelong Groves resident and retired bookkeeper for Drainage District #7. Melba was one of the oldest members of First Baptist Church of Groves and was a volunteer at Park Place Hospital and the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Earl Clark. Survivors include her brother, Clifford Gene Fitts and wife, Patricia of Deweyville, TX; other family members, Dale Carter and wife, Betty; nieces, Mary Ruth Riddell and husband Glenn, Pam Taylor and husband Jeff; nephews, Mark Fitts, Russell Fitts and wife, Kelly; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Dr. Joe Worley and Reverend Charles Miller officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

My Mom, Edwina LeDoux, and I have fond memories of Melba Clark from our time at FBC of Groves. She was a caring friend and a wonderful role model for all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with all her family and friends...
