Melinda (Mindy) Louise Dunham, 45, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at her residence. She was born on January 20, 1969 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the late Doy Dunham and Virginia Puerta. Mindy was an English teacher for Port Neches-Groves High School for 11 years, and 10 years with Calcasieu Parish at La Grange High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Mindy is survived by her mother, Virginia Anderson and husband, James of Sulphur, Louisiana; brother, John Dunham of Sulphur, Louisiana; good friend Barbara Comeaux; and her faithful companion, her dog Nellie. She is preceded in death by her father, Doy Dunham.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.

The family requests for memorial contributions to be made to the Humane Society in Beaumont, Texas. 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, TX 77705

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Mindy was such a good friend to me through many years. I have many wonderful memories of her that I will always cherish. This world was a better place with Mindy in it. Such a kind sweet soul with a fantastic smile and laugh that could light up a room. Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end.
