Surely did hate to hear about Mike's passing. Mike Barnett was the salt of the earth. We went back to the late '40's or early '50's when we used to play down around the kennels below the prisoner of war camp in Ole Brook where his Daddy kept his hound dogs. His Daddy was a good ol' boy, too. Mike would give you the shirt off his back. I'll always remember Mike's big laugh as we sat around at the class reunions (the only time I got to see him) eating those old boiled peanuts and drinking cold beer. There was never a good ol' boy like Mike Barnett . . . . and there damn sure will never be another. . . . Rest in peace, Ol' Buddy. . . . and God bless those you left behind . .
