Michael E. Ledford

1957 ∼ 2026

Michael E. Ledford, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Port Arthur, Texas, where he was born on May 7, 1957. He leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, kindness, and a touch of humor that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1976, Michael furthered his education at Lamar University. His strong personality and unwavering commitment were evident throughout his 24-year career as a transportation hauler for Walmart, from which he retired on April 1, 2023. Michael was not only known for his work ethic but also for his willingness to help others, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh with friends.

Michael's life was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures. An avid fisherman, he treasured the time spent casting lines and enjoying nature. Additionally, his workshop was a sanctuary where he embraced his creativity and craftsmanship. Friends and family often fondly recalled the times he would cut up with them, embracing moments of laughter that brought people together.

In 1982, Michael proudly married his beloved spouse, Cara Ledford, with whom he shared many happy years. Together, they raised their son, Michael E. Ledford II, who carries forward his father’s spirit. Michael’s strong bond with his siblings—brother James Robert Ledford and sisters Anna Breaux and Theresa Marilyn Dutton—was a source of comfort and joy throughout his life.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Captain James R. Ledford Sr. and Lilly Ledford, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy will continue through the lives he touched and the memories shared.

As a devout Catholic, Michael found strength and solace in his faith, a guiding light throughout his life. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and interests but also for the love he generously shared with those around him.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Michael's Life to begin at 12:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston in Groves located at 5601 39th Street.

Michael E. Ledford’s life story is one of passion, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. As we gather to remember and celebrate his life, we are reminded of the enduring impact he had on the world and the people he cherished.
