Michael Ben Lumpkin
August 12, 1947 – September 23, 2026
Michael Ben Lumpkin, lovingly known as Mike, was born on August 12, 1947, in Port Arthur, Texas, to T.R. Lumpkin and Meredith Haston Anderson. He passed away peacefully in Groves, Texas, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to his family.
Mike was the youngest of four children. He attended M.B. Smiley High School in Houston, Texas, and later studied diesel mechanics at Lamar University. A hardworking man by nature, Mike was always happiest when he had something to do. He was well known throughout the community as the “phone man,” building a career with Southwestern Bell before retiring. Retirement did not slow Mike down for long, and he went on to work for Motiva, eventually retiring from there as well.
In 1985, Mike married the love of his life, Lisa Lange Lumpkin. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and countless memories. They raised their boys together and created a home where family always came first.
Mike found joy in the simple things in life. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his boys, and he could just as easily be found sitting back and relaxing in his backyard. But more than anything, Mike loved his family.
He was a gentle soul with a heart of gold who loved his family fiercely. There was never a day you would encounter Mike without hearing him tell you how much he loved you. He was always looking for a way to help someone, making sure those around him were taken care of. Giving was simply who Mike was. His love was genuine, his heart was generous, and his presence brought comfort to those fortunate enough to know him.
Mike leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Lisa, and his sons, Kyle Lumpkin and Caroline Dronet of Beaumont, Texas; Greg Lumpkin and his wife, Monique, of China, Texas; and Brandon Burch and his wife, Selene, of Ridge Crest, California. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Peyton and Parker Lumpkin and Seth and Skyla Burch; his brother, Larry Lumpkin and his wife, Judy, of Nederland, Texas, sister-in-law, Karen and her husband Gary Kelly of Rockdale, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.R. and Nell Lumpkin and Meredith and Jack Anderson; his sister, Cynthia and her husband, John Gontarek; his brother, Tommy Lumpkin; and his son, Jeremy Burch.
Though Mike is no longer here to tell us how much he loves us, the love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. His memory will live on through the stories shared, the lessons he taught, the laughter he brought, and most of all, through the family he loved so deeply.

Services: Visitation will be 11am-12pm with service immediately following visitation at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Followed by private family burial at the family cemetery in Town Bluff.
