Michael "Mike" Lawrence Moreau, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 29, 2025, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family in Port Neches, Texas. Born on July 12, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Mike lived a life characterized by devotion to his family, community, and his faith.
Mike's professional journey began immediately after graduating from Bishop Byrne High School in 1961. He embarked on a successful career in banking that spanned over 30 years, initially working as a bank examiner for a decade before advancing within the industry. Alongside his banking career, Mike proudly served in the United States Air Force, embodying a commitment to service that would carry throughout his life.
A devout Catholic, Mike was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council #3406 in Bridge City and participated in the Rotary. His involvement with the ACTS community was profound, as he served on numerous teams, demonstrating unwavering support for those around him. His faith and dedication to service greatly enriched the lives of many within his community.
Mike is remembered for his vibrant personality and playful spirit. Known as a jokester, he had a unique ability to make others laugh and often created affectionate nicknames for his friends and family. Mike also possessed a talent for rebuilding things, exemplified by his impressive skill in reconstructing cars from the inside out. His hobbies included sports, particularly cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns, along with a passion for music and playing the guitar. He found joy in entertaining family and friends and was known for his love of cooking for others.
Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in instilling the knowledge of education and reading in his children. Mike cherished attending the sporting events and extracurricular activities of his grandchildren, celebrating their achievements with great enthusiasm. His family was his pride and joy, along with his puppy dogs and he leaves behind a legacy of love and knowledge.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Cheryll Moreau of Port Neches, and his children, Jeff Moreau of Montgomery, TX; Todd Carruth of Silbee, TX; Bryan Carruth and his wife, Theresa of Port Neches, TX; and Angela Lewis and her husband, Rodney of Groves, TX. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Hunter Knox and his wife, Alyssa; Baylee Lewis; Carson Lewis; Hannah Duboise and her husband, Logan; Ian Carruth; Zac Carruth; Nick Carruth; and Cody Carruth, along with 7 great-grandchildren. His sister, Kay Guidry of Austin, TX, also survives him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Margaret Moreau, as well as his sisters, Barbara Paulissen and Alice Moreau, his brother, Alfred Moreau, III, and his son, Troy Carruth.

Visitation for Mike will be held on April 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception/St. Peter Catholic Church located at 4100 Lincoln Ave., Groves, TX 77619. A graveside service will take place at a later date at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston.
Mike's legacy of laughter, love, and commitment to his family and community will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
