Michael Andrew Sparrow, 70, of Groves, passed away on July 23, 2022, at HCA Clear Lake Hospital in League City, TX surrounded by his closest loved ones.

There will be a celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. Friday August 5th, 2022, at Cornerstone Church in Nederland, TX where he spent his last years attending church.

Michael was born on March 2, 1952, in Groves, Texas. He was the son of William Andrew Sparrow and Doris Beard Sparrow. He worked at Motiva for over 25 years as a plant operator making a name for himself and rising to foreman at a young age. He was later sought out from retirement to be an instructor for Process Technology at Lamar State College-Port Arthur where he taught for 10+ years. As an instructor he loved being able to influence and shape the next generation of operators as making sure every student greeted him with a firm handshake before sitting down for class.

He was preceded in death by his father William Andrew Sparrow, mother Doris Beard Sparrow and brother Steve Sparrow.

He is survived by his son, Skylar Sparrow and fiancé Victoria Gomez of League City; two grandchildren, Eli and Emilia Sparrow; sister, Denise Trimble of Bridge City, nephew Andrew Trimble of Bridge City, TX and Allison Trimble of Port Neches, TX.
